Turmeric Milk

Ayurvedic Expertise suggests that you should drink a glass of milk with 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric twice daily to clear your throat.

Licorice Root Tea (Mulethi)

Licorice root is both an expectorant and demulcent, simultaneously soothing your airways while loosening and thinning mucous, easing congestion. It can also ease any inflammation that may be irritating your throat. Bring water to a boil and place the licorice root in a mug. Cover with water and steep for 10-15 minutes. Drink the entire cup up to 2 times daily.

Ginger

Another home remedy for a stubborn cough is adding garlic to Turmeric milk. Simply, boil a clove of garlic with milk and then add a pinch of turmeric to it. This drink is an ideal cough treatment because it helps in healing and soothing your throat.

Ginger Peppermint Syrup

Chop the ginger and add it along with the peppermint to 4 cups of water. Bring to a boil and then lower the heat so that the liquid simmer. Simmer until the liquid has been reduced by half, than strain. Let it cool slightly, and then stir in 1 cup of honey until it has been dissolved completely. Bottle and take 1 tablespoon every few hours as needed to ease your cough. Keep refrigerated for up to 3 weeks.

Giloy Juice

In case of chronic cough, you must have 2 tablespoons of Giloy juice with water in the morning everyday till it becomes better.

Lemon

Lemons are useful in a variety of ways for treating coughs. With properties that reduce inflammation and offer infection-fighting vitamin C, lemons offer just the prescription to fight cough. Combine two tablespoons of lemon juice and one tablespoon of honey and you have a homemade cough syrup. This can be taken several times a day. You can also add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the above mixture.

Honey + Mulethi + Cinnamon

A mix of 1/4 teaspoon honey, 1/4 teaspoon mulethi powder and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon with water had twice daily in the morning and evening works wonders.

Pomegranate Juice for Kids

You could give them a mix of 1/2 cup pomegranate juice, a pinch of ginger powder along with pippali powder.
